Mam Aki (Brigitte Schmidt) is of half German and half Hungarian descent and grew up in Germany. She began her violin lessons at the age of five and later studied with Carla Moll, the first violinist of the Munich Philharmonic.
Master Classes with Christopher Young (Film Scoring), Garry Schymann (Game Music), and Pete Anthony (Orchestration).
She has accumulated orchestral experience, participated in various performances, and worked as a violin teacher. Her love for composition emerged in later years, influenced by personal life experiences. These include several years spent in Buddhist monasteries in Switzerland and France, as well as many years of individual retreats in remote locations without contact with the outside world.
These experiences of silence opened up a unique access to the world of sound, which she strives to capture in hybrid compositions that blend orchestral, synthetic, and natural sounds.
Her musical influences are diverse, ranging from Brahms (especially the 1st Piano Concerto), Stravinsky, Bartók, and Mahler, to the classical violin repertoire, as well as folk, pop, rock, and particularly the epic genre.
Currently, she focuses on creating hybrid music for films and games. She is particularly passionate about contributing to European film art in the indie sector with her compositions.
